Glamorous revelers sport colorful dresses and towering heels at Chester Ladies Day

The glamorous revelers showed off their fashion prowess as they donned high heels and high hemlines to head out for Ladies Day at the Chester Races today.

It’s the second day of the annual Boodles May festival, billed as the ‘top of Chester’s social calendar’, and attendees were sure to look their best and look their most fabulous.

Sporting an array of colorful dresses, pantsuits and jumpsuits, guests are accessorized with designer shoes and heels as well as extravagant fascinators and hats.

Around 50,000 spectators are expected to descend on this year’s three-day meeting after it was canceled in 2020 before returning in 2021 with reduced attendance numbers due to the Covid pandemic.

Well-heeled guests included England football legend Michael Owen, 42, his wife Louise and their daughter Gemma, 19.

The Tattersalls precinct urges guests to “make a statement” with their outfits, listing tailored jumpsuits and shorts, maxi dresses and headbands and hair accessories as strong picks.

The more laid-back stalls are the Dee and Open Course, where relaxed sundresses, shorts, t-shirts and sunglasses are welcome.

The opening day of the festival features Cheshire Oaks and Chester Vase races, with a £100,000 prize on the line for the latter.

Today is Ladies Day, with the Dee Stakes and Ormonde Stakes, while the final day will feature the Chester Cup, with prizes set at £150,000.
