While the rest of Hollywood’s elite were celebrating at the Venice Film Festival in Italy this weekend, Zendaya walked the red carpet in Paris to show off not one but two incredible two-piece sets while promoting of his new film, Dunes. Always queen of the carpet, Zendaya’s appearance proves that wearing a real dress is officially out and two-piece sets are the way to go from now on.
At Dunes premiering in Paris, Zendaya showed us all the true meaning of a best-dressed celebrity in a brown two-piece set from Alaïa. If the piece looks familiar, that’s because it was just presented on the catwalk as part of the legendary brand’s Winter/Spring 2022 collection. She accessorized her look with a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps and a pair of oversized gold hoop earrings.

Her ensemble consisted of a long-sleeved crop top – completely backless – and a fitted maxi skirt fitted with Alaïa’s signature laser-printed cutouts along the waist and tons of dramatic feathers at the hem. While this is definitely one of Zendaya’s most daring looks, she pulled it off with ease. I mean, has she ever been able to pull off a red carpet look? She tops almost every best dressed list for a reason, after all!

The Euphoria The EMMY-winning star and actress collaborated with Law Roach on the look. Roach, a self-proclaimed “image architect,” has worked with the star since her Disney Channel days, and the duo have created all of Zendaya’s most stunning looks throughout her career.
It was actually Roach who launched Alaïa’s look on Instagram. He posted a video to his feed of Zendaya walking through her hotel lobby in the set while a cover of Beyonce’s “Grown Woman” played in the background.
“She’s a grown woman… @wearing @maisonalaia and @jimmychoo,” he captioned the video.
In keeping with the 70s inspired vibe, Zendaya’s hair has been styled into a curly bob. Her makeup, while subtle, featured glossy skin, black double-winged eyeliner with a hint of white in the outer corner, and a glossy nude lip. When the dress is so exaggerated, why complicate it with an exaggerated beauty look?
But Zendaya’s Dunes The first looks didn’t start and end with Alaïa – she turned into another one two-piece set later that evening. This second look, which was designed by David Koma, came in black instead of brown and featured a thick bedazzled stripe on the top of the skirt and the bottom of the long-sleeved crop top. Again, it was Roach who shared the first video of the look on his Instagram page. “We can do this all day…wearing @davidkomalondon,” he captioned the second video.
This time around, the actress’ hair was styled into several sleek braids that came together in a low bun at the nape of her neck. If the brown Alaïa set is inspired by the disco glam fashion of the 70s, this second look is inspired by the excessive maximalism of the 80s.
Excuse me while I try to think of a time when Zendaya wasn’t winning on the red carpet. If anything, these latest looks cement the star as one of the best-dressed celebrities of the decade. And considering her red carpet appearances just get better with time, I just can’t wait to see what she and Roach come up with next.
